Cloudsplitter Outfitters
Whether you’re looking for adventure, provisions, or a place to stay, Cloudsplitter has it all. We highly recommend Cloudsplitter’s shop, which has groceries as well as fishing, hunting, and hiking gear. Cloudsplitter’s mountain bike and cross-country ski rentals mean you’ll have the perfect gear to get into Santanoni during all seasons.
The Newcomb Historical Museum
The Newcomb Historical Museum offers an opportunity to learn about the natural and cultural history of the Adirondacks through curated exhibits and research. The historic McCoy House, 5631 NY-28N, is open year-round for historical and genealogical research. In addition, the Museum hosts special exhibits and other events at the Seely Exhibit Hall, 4 Adams Lane.
Newcomb Campground
Although the cafe has closed, the Newcomb Campground still offers seasonal campsites. Visit the website for more information about booking for the 2025 season.
Newcomb PINES
Newcomb Pines, located across the street from the Santanoni Preserve, is Newcomb’s newest ice cream shop. Check their Facebook page for the latest information about hours and available flavors.
Adirondack Interpretive Center
The Adirondack Interpretive Center, located just north of the Santanoni Preserve, has beautiful trails and offers public programming, events, and other activities throughout the year to the public. Check the AIC’s Facebook page for information about upcoming events.
Tahawus Mine Site
The ruins of the Tahawus blast furnace, also known as the Upper Works, are a wonder to behold. The Open Space Institute’s interpretive trails and signage offer insights into the operation of this mine deep in the Adirondack wilderness.
High Peaks Golf Course
The High Peaks Golf Course is a nine-hole, municipal golf course in the heart of the Adirondacks. The par 33 course offers stunning views of the surrounding high peaks and tees for every age group. Grab a hot dog at the Club House and enjoy a round at one of the Adirondacks’ most scenic golf courses.
Lake Harris Campground and Day Use Area
Accessible by trail to the Santanoni Preserve, the Lake Harris Campground and Day Use Area offers a number of recreational opportunities, including canoeing and boating, fishing, hiking, bicycling and camping.
